Baystate Medical Center, the largest hospital in western Massachusetts, recently built out an existing shell with new operating rooms. The jobsite had extremely limited space, tight pathways for materials, and partially below grade. Building off-site was the primary solution for this project’s successful execution.
The project team planned early, using a virtual model and standardized layouts to achieve perfect on-site coordination. This standardization directly impacts facility staff members by creating familiar, repetitive environments and system layouts that result in more efficient, successful operations.
DBC prefabricated over 122,000-sq.-ft. of N-Series interior wall panels. The panels then had medical gases, low voltage, and electrical conduits roughed-in at an off-site facility. Four crew members were able to quickly install the panels, which were then ready for inspection and drywall.
