The Hyatt Regency Conroe Hotel and Convention center stands as a testament to the success achieved by prefabricated approach with Digital Building Components.
DBC's team designed and manufactured our S-Series panels equipped with ExoAir sheathing and pour stops for the hotel. A major win for DBC was the pre-installation of perimeter floor concrete pour stops on our wall panels, streamlining construction processes and facilitating the seamless installation of wall sheathing without the need for laborers on scaffolding or lifts. The integration of prefabricated components resulted in a remarkable time saving of three months, expediting the completion of the structure, skin, and wall framing – comprised of 3,032 load-bearing CFS panels. This approach also strategically removed guest bathrooms from the critical path.
DBC collaborated with DPR Construction's Self-Perform Work concrete team to pre-install perimeter safety handrails on our panels before positioning them, thereby reducing installation time and mitigating the risk associated with brackets hanging over the building's side. Despite the challenges posed by the intense Texas summer heat, the project maintained its schedule, ensuring the team's safety through meticulous heat illness prevention planning and implementation.
This project demonstrates our preferred approach, emphasizing effective collaboration among DPR's various companies, each handling distinct responsibilities. Multiple DPR entities worked together efficiently across different project stages, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution. The combined efforts of the DPR project team, DPR SPW Concrete, DBC, SPW Interiors/Drywall, SurePods, OES, and others highlights our ability to manage extensive project scopes – a noteworthy achievement in our competitive landscape.
